Good Evening! It has been an eventful day with Harvey and we have updated information for our area.
Simonton is expected to see flooding from Hurricane Harvey. This Brazos River rise will be driven by the rainfall in Austin, Waller and Fort Bend Counties. As a result, the flood levels are difficult to project. The flooding will depend upon how much rain falls upstream of Simonton.
Based on what we know now, the flood levels are projected to be 2 to 3 feet lower at Rue Road than what we experienced in the Memorial Day 2016 flood. At FM Highway 1093, the projected levels could be 5 feet lower than the Memorial Day 2016 event. Again, because this event is driven by the rain that falls locally, these projections could change significantly depending if the rainfall amounts upstream of Simonton vary from current projections.
If you experienced flooding during the 2016 Tax Day flood, you will probably see that same flooding during this event based on current projects. You should take all necessary precautions to relocate, if necessary, and to protect you and your property, and your animals.
We will be receiving multiple updates each day and will pass this information along as it becomes available.
