The Simonton area received 6-8 inches of rain overnight. THE FORECAST STILL APPEARS TO HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR WATER LEVELS EQUAL TO THE MAY 2016 FLOOD. As stated before, contributing factors to this event is from localized rainfall, along with the rainfall from the watershed north of I-10 which means the forecast will continue to be highly subject to change in a very short period of time.
The Simonton Emergency Operations Committee is encouraging residents to check their own culverts and ditches for any large debris which is impeding water flow. If there is a large obstruction, please contact City Hall.
Please take all necessary precautions to relocate, if necessary, and to protect you and your property, along with your animals and/or livestock.
IF YOU INTEND TO EVACUATE, PLEASE NOTIFY CITY HALL AND REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR ANIMALS WITH YOU. If you need assistance with large animal transport, please call city hall at 281-533-9809.
Fort Bend County Fairgrounds is prepared to receive horses. Please make arrangements with Mary Staff before transporting your horses. She can be reached at 281-642-3664.
