Working without a Permit
It has been brought to the city’s attention, that some residents may be repairing their flood damaged homes without proper permitting.
Please note, if FEMA were to perform an audit (which is possible because of the frequency of flooding in recent years),and it is found that any home in the flood plain was not permitted to repair, the entire city could lose the ability to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Meaning no resident could secure flood insurance.
IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR FLOOD DAMAGE REPAIR PERMIT APPLICATION AND RECEIVED A LETTER FROM JONES AND CARTER STATING THAT YOU ARE NOT SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, YOUR PERMIT IS AT CITY HALL, AWAITING PICK UP. YOU OR YOUR CONTRACTOR MAY PICK UP THE PERMIT DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS (8a-12p, 1p-5p MON-THURS and 8a-12p FRI).
CITY HALL IS CLOSED 12-1PM FOR LUNCH DURING THE WEEK.
PLEASE POST YOUR PERMIT WHERE IT CAN BE SEEN FROM THE STREET. The city has inspectors in the area daily, and if the permit is not in plain sight, a STOP WORK ORDER may be issued.
