City hall will be closed for Christmas Thursday, December 22 – Monday, December 26
And for New Year’s Monday, January 2, 2017
“The City of Simonton has received an update on the Fort Bend County 2016 Tax Statement for damage assessed properties from Fort Bend County Central Appraisal District (FBCAD) and Fort Bend County Tax Office. The field work that Fort Bend County Central Appraisal District is surveying in the Simonton area is almost complete and the values will be keyed to a new database. A notice on damage assessment properties will start being mailed out in about two to three weeks. The notice will include the June 1 value , January 1 value, and the assessed value for the entities who authorized the damage assessment. Fort Bend County Tax office will provide information on damage assessment adjustments after the certified change orders are received by FBCAD. The Fort Bend County Tax Office can calculate an ESTIMATED tax due for taxpayers that wish to pay before the end of the year if the taxpayer will provide FBC Tax Office with a copy of their reappraisal notice. It is imperative that the taxpayers understand the delinquency date of Feb 1, 2017 will not be extended. Currently, the damaged assessed properties have the ability to pay installments while the damage assessment adjustments are being assessed and processed for future distribution. Taxpayers must notify the tax office of their intention to make quarterly installments. Also, to qualify for installments the first payment must be made by January 31, 2017.”
