Like other cities in Texas, the City of Simonton (the City) must plan to meet “head-on” the threat of a multitude of emergencies. Recently, the City held a preparedness exercise to ensure that the community was prepared to handle a flood event. Last month’s exercise, which began at 8:00 a.m. and lasted several hours, involved training 15 community volunteers on their ability to pick up, deliver, deploy, operate, take down and return the City’s trailer-mounted flood pumps effectively and efficiently.

Encroaching grass and weeds are the enemy of our roads. To protect the integrity of the road surface, Fort Bend County will be applying herbicide to the edges and shoulders of many (but not all) of the roads in the City of Simonton.
Note that the County will take every effort to only use herbicide where it is absolutely necessary. However, it may spread further into areas of the right of way than were intended. While this in unfortunate, if it does happen, we ask for your understanding.
Questions may be directed to the City of Simonton at 281-533-9809 during business hours.
Recent thefts of Stop Signs in Simonton have drawn the ire of a number of neighbors in the community. Specifically, two stop signs were recently removed at the intersection of Hackamore and Broncho in Section 1 of Valley Lodge.
“Residents depend on these stop signs to provide safety in our city.” says Simonton Mayor, Daniel McJunkin. “We are pursuing the thefts as more than just a childish prank, it’s a serious matter – that could lead to an arrest and heavy fines for those that took them”.
According to Mayor McJunkin, the City is working with Crimestoppers to offer a reward for information about the thefts. The phone number for Fort Bend Crimestoppers is 281-342-8477 (TIPS).
Road signs are in place to warn drivers of potential hazards, speed limits, sharp turns and to protect the community. When they are damaged or removed, people can be injured or even killed as a result. The City of Simonton encourages everyone in the community to be aware of anyone damaging or removing a sign and report suspicious behavior to the Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office at 281-341-4704. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Fort Bend Crimestoppers at 281-342-8477 (TIPS).
